iiii Records is ecstatic to release the first ever album by cult New Zealand band Fertility Festival. Active in Wellington throughout the 2000's Fertility Festival started as a 3 piece, playing weekly at experimental music venue Happy. Before long the group expanded, and kept on expanding, until 12-16 musicians were regularly seen on stage.

Known for their ritualistic presentation - including street marches, small town roaming and relentless high energy rhythmaning - Fertility Festival soon became underground favourites in the vibrant scene of the day and performed throughout NZ until heading into a long hiatus in 2010.

This recording is from the unofficial Ornette Coleman afterparty - the legendary saxophonist played Wellington that night - and features the early incarnation of Auckland based groove band 'Storehouse' as guests. Fertility Festival entered the venue during the Storehouse set and performed a sonic takeover - with Storehouse joining in the fun.

Fertility Festival reunite/reinvent in June 2024 to celebrate 20 years of iconic Auckland venue The Wine Cellar.
